拜金主义:宋永平在古根海姆艺术文献展
2018年8月24日星期五,《拜金主义:宋永平在古根海姆艺术文献》展于当地时间上午十一点,在古根海姆博物馆五楼的“金马桶茅房”如期展出。

2014年的时候,中国拜金主义大行其道,举国上下一片蒸蒸日上的繁荣景象。我开始以金钱为主题创作作品,年底的时候,我产生了用黄金做作品的想法,当时,中国的一个为我制作“美元”版画的艺术机构,得知我的想法后愿意帮助我实现这个愿望,他们告诉我:给你找一吨黄金你会怎么做。对于我来说,一吨黄金我没有什么具体的概念,我只是知道因该是一个很高的价钱吧,与此同时,一吨黄金的体积,如果是正方体大概接近四十厘米。
其实,黄金白银在中国人的心目中一直以来是一个很重,并且很接近隐私的话题。它常常是邪恶与尊贵相关联的联合媒介。艺术与黄金的关系更多的时候也是十分矛盾的,充满着爱恨情仇。以黄金为媒材做作品,在我看来有两种可能:一种是为了美化和修饰作用的方法,常见的有首饰工艺品等;另一种是为宗教神圣服务的做法,以赞美上帝或者高僧金身制作等等。或者低于黄金或者高于黄金。总而言之,黄金媒材是一种相当棘手的材料。题材手段必须与它相匹配才好,经过一段艰苦的冥思苦想,一个将一吨黄金倒入马桶的想法,在一个电闪雷鸣的清晨不期而至。…………事实上,能够说服黄金持有者,浇注一个充满批判意味的作品是十分困难的,时间在不知不觉间到了2016年五月,杜尚“泉”诞生99周年的时候,古根海姆博物馆推出了意大利艺术家莫里吉奥.卡特兰的金马桶!这个消息对于我来说,是一个不小的打击,这样以来,我的“马桶”计划立刻失去了原创意义。另一个打击来自版画机构:他们不能用一吨黄金来实现这个作品,理由是此作品太多负面因素。至此,我的黄金计划彻底破产!为了实现纪念“泉”诞生100周年,2017年12月28日,我用其他替代材料完成了这个作品,我把它取名:《黄金1号》以纪念这个悲剧。

In 2014,worshipping money was very popular in China, and the country was thriving.Ihave been working on my artistic creation on the theme of money. At the end ofthat year, I came up with the idea of creating works with gold. An artinstitution who had produced the "Dollars" prints for me before wasvery willing to support me. They asked me what would I do if I found a ton ofgold. I didn't have any specific ideafor a ton of gold. I only knew it was very expensive,while a ton of gold is about 40 cm if it is acube.
In fact, goldand silver have always been a very heavy and private topic for Chinese people.It is often a joint medium of evil and dignity. The relationship between artand gold is also very contradictory;full of love and hate. In my opinion, using gold as a medium inartistic creations has two possibilities: one is a method to beautify andmodify, such as jewelry crafts, etc. The other is to serve the religious sacredto praise God or Buddha and so on. They are either lower or higher than gold.All in all, gold is a rather tricky material. The artistic subject must matchit. After a hard meditation, the idea of pouring a ton of gold in to thetoilet came in an early morning of an unexpected thunder. In fact, it is verydifficult to persuade the gold holders to use gold to make a critical work.
In May 2016, the99th anniversary of Duchamp’s “Spring”, The Gölheim Museum has launched the"golden toilet" of the Italian artist Morigio Calllan. This was a bigloss for me, so my "toilet" plan immediately lost its originalmeaning. Another strike comes from printmaking agencies: they can't use a tonof gold to achieve this work. There are too many negative things in this work.At this point, my gold plan went completely bankrupt!
To memorize the100th anniversary of the birth of "Spring", in December 28, 2017, Icompleted this work with other alternative materials. I named it: "GoldNo. 1" to commemorate this tragedy.
